The Los Altos renovation was NMX’s first partnership between the Youth Conservation Corps Commission and the Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Division. This grant was written to improve Los Altos Skate Park, while hiring the youth that frequent the park in hopes of having them take a new sense of ownership and pride. The renovation consisted of hiring over 25 youth to partner and learn from City workers construction skills, work ethics, and other valuable lessons. Over 10,000’ of new skate-able concrete terrain was added, along with redoing all the landscaping, and painting a mural that covered over 15,000’.
