The ABQ Shooting Range Project is a proposed long-term project to make the Albuquerque Shooting Range more appealing to the masses. The partnership is one between NMX, YCCC, and ABQ Parks and Recreation Department.

During the first year of the project NMX hired 15 youth. The youth then worked with City personnel to lay out a 300’ x 35’ concrete pad that helps control flooding and erosion, installed ADA compatible sidewalks and ramps, and they also built two walls that serve as windbreakers. Each wall is 6’ high and 140’ long. As the final part of the year one phase, youth were taught to sculpt & fire their own tiles.

These tiles were then used to beautify the shooting range and were applied as a mosaic on the wall. NMX plans to continue to add to the mosaic in the future, as well as eventually adding a picnic area.
